Devin a delight

Photo of Devin by 10 Mix

Devin is an amazingly gorgeous sim owned and created by Roy Mildor, Ally Daysleeper and Alienmaus Allen.

2 levels of beautiful landscaping and cute poses, cuddles and hangout spots.

A gorgeous hazy panorama of a safari complete with a jeep you can drive (or crash in my case) around the sim. A green woody paradise that has a sweet little boat rezzer you can glide around the sim in.

I have visited Devin a few times now my first was in January I shot I think some gorgeous photos. Unfortunately, a few days later my Laptop died losing all my photos and some important work stuff.  It took me awhile to replace my laptop and last week I finally got to go back to Devin. The sim’s are as gorgeous as I remembered.

I particularly love the desert of Devin everything about it is so well put together in such an awe inspiring unique way. The hazy sky and “air” really add to the feel of the place.

My friend Lotus and I took the keep around to look it was a lot of fun bouncing and driving around. I crashed us into Ally and Roy’s home couldn’t turn the jeep around fast enough and we both got ejected lol.  We landed at Devin 2 a nice wooded part of the sim with a stream lighthouse trees really pretty. Lotus and I took the boat around up there with no crashes. Both areas are beautiful to visit and can keep you entertained for hours with a friend or a camera.

From here there be dragons by Alpha Auer

While walking through this impressive build my mind wanders to Dragons and their powerful impact on the psyche. My mind wanders to change, transformation, elevated spirit, hoarding, strength, courage and honor. Oddly to me Dragon energy can encompass both hoarding and honor. I suppose everything encompasses a light and dark side, good and bad, Love and hate.

Meditating on – what do I hoard and how can I change or transform that into strength and share it. (yeah I am a hippie)

Can we hoard something for a good reason? Time maybe.

Alpha Auer created a wonderful vision of shimmering golden Dragons of all kinds from different beliefs. It’s a beautifully thought provoking build. Look carefully while you are there and find the wonderful Alpha tribe avatar (free).

“When Medieval and Renaissance map makers got to the edge of the world, they used to write “beyond this place there be dragons,” meaning dangerous or unexplored territories that sailors should beware of before attempting to cross into them. This was expressed by the visual practice of putting dragons, sea serpents and other mythological creatures in uncharted areas of maps. In this installation I have used a Renaissance map, a leaf from Abraham Ortelius’s “Theatrum Orbis Terrarum,” as the floor of a dark, geometric architecture which floats high in the sky, depicting an abstract, reflected world guarded by tangibly real-looking dragons.

Dragons have always been with us, although we have come to deny their existence and their potency. G. K. Chesterton, who was also called ‘the prince of paradox,’ has noted that “the objection to fairy stories is that they tell children there are dragons.”  But then, according to Chesterton, “children have always known there are dragons. Fairy stories tell children that dragons can be killed… [] Fairy tales are more than true – not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten.”

“Always remember, it’s simply not an adventure worth telling if there aren’t any dragons.” says J.R.R Tolkien in chapter XII of ‘The Hobbit,’  adding that “It does not do to leave a dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.” Tolkien desired “dragons with a profound desire,” and I do too because they are about unknown things – possibly grave dangers, but possibly also magnificent wonders which we cannot untangle unless we tackle the dragons that guard them first. These dangerous wonders reside within our inner selves as much as they reside in external circumstances. Of these it is the inner territory that interests me more – hence the abstraction of the architecture that my, seemingly real, dragons guard. Because what is unknown in the inner self is abstract, but our fear of it is very concrete. “ Alpha Auer

ELO’s “A Ray of Light”

Elorac Paule

Iam so thrilled to see  Lil’ Frenchie elo‘s work at Commune Utopia!

Elo’s work ranges from seductive, mysterious, sensual, sexy, passionate, sad, restrained, bound, hidden, loving, raw and real. Elo evokes feeling with her work it is palatable. You can feel the emotions she portrays in each piece. Her passion comes roaring through as clearly as the random still calm shots do.

Elo always manages to stir feelings and emotions in me with her work.

Come on by and see how her incredibly beautiful talent affects you.

Commune Utopia hosts an opening party Saturday January 21st @ 1pm slt.

“The delicacy of the female beauty captured in “A Ray of Light” belies the strong contrasts that create a sense of something almost too perfect to belong to the real world– thus belonging imminently to SL. “ taken from Yoru’s announcement at CU.

A Dream Story

Ceakay Ballyhoo is back with another artistic story.

The Little Girl and The Forest Beyond!

This story flows through a girl’s pre sleep thoughts into her dream inspired by a painting.

CK shares this beautifully with her build and through her story.

As you follow the path through the sim and click on rocks the little girls dream is shared with you. (if you would rather read the story in its entirety you can on Ceakay’s blog.)

Winding through you feel as if you have stepped into a dream.

You can follow the story or go off on your own and explore.

So many details and things that warm the heart and make you smile!

The Little girl and The Forest Beyond is on Ck’s home sim which is home to her gallery.
